Exploring marvelous Maryborough




The Town Hall, only fitting that the ceiling was designed as the hull of a ship because of it's history  being Queensland's first wharf.



The cake which exhibits a number of Maryborough's  amazing facts and sights. More than 2000 items made in icing.


Fountain remembering the sacrifice two nurses made to ensure Australia didn't become contaminated with the Bubonic plague. They intentionally isolated the eight people who had it (ship from Hong Kong) and in doing so lost their own lives.



The first FORD Dealership in Australia began in Maryborough. Just love this place :)



The stones in front of Duncan came from Gallipoli as did the sand which was used to set his footsteps.





P.L. Travers the author of Mary Poppins grew up in Maryborough. There are many clues in the town which indicate how she was influenced to write the story. Including this canon which was fired at 1.00pm every day.

The Statue of Liberty stands 305 feet high. The seven triangles which form her crown represent the seven seas that immigrants traveled to come to America. The torch lights the way for them, the broken chains at her feet represent freedom and she holds the Declaration of Independence. She was a gift from the people of France in 1886 and was designed by French sculptor Frederic Bartholdi. Sculpture representing the arriving immigrants.   New York Museum....Night at the Museum.
