New York
Landed safely in New York yesterday.
Although quite overcast and rained today, we still had a terrific day.
One of the highlights for Cloe today was visiting the Nike Factory.
Police and Secret Service surrounding this building today. I asked a secret service officer what was going on and he answered, "Presidential Business." I also asked the officer about the trucks, he said they are parked here because they are difficult to get through.Later in the day just up from here, four Police cars escorting two black Limousine Vans followed by other Police cars and a News truck went past us.
So lucky to get into Ellen's Stardust Diner for lunch today. Walked
straight in. Normally the line is up to a block long. Cloe got a little
attention from one of the waiters, better known as
"Star-Dusters." The restaurant was set up by Ellen Hart-Sturm (former
Miss Beauty Queen) in 1987, to aid potential Broadway Theatre performers. Only
1% of singers/actors/dancers in New York actually make it on stage, 200 of the
performers in Stardust have made it.
M&Ms The most visited store in Time Square
Yes, you guessed correctly, The Naked Cowboy. Fortunately, he did have underpants on.
Kai was in his element, especially in the Star Wars section...
Its a bit sad to see this iconic image disappearing, most of the Yellow Cabs today are Toyota Camry's or the like...
Thought of the V8's today. Penske trucks everywhere.
New York Library.
Grand Central Station. We went looking for "Marty and Alex."
The Whisper Wall.
We didn't find the characters from Madagascar, but we did find some incredible cupcakes.
In front of the Chrysler Building.
$1.00 and $3.00 Pizza slices for tea.
Everyone's happy.
Needless to say, Kai, Cloe and Sonia found some good deals at the factory store, 4 stories high.
