Washington DC
Had a 11.00 am start, decided to check out a couple of Washington's sights today.
Our first Squirrel encounter, very cute
Feel very safe, despite the latest news, Police presence everywhere. We were informed today that the Missiles can't reach Washington...
Inside Union Station. Not bad for a Subway Station.
Liberty Bell, kids thought of the movie, National treasure.
This house was in front of one of the congress buildings.
On our way to the Library of Congress, or better known as the Thomas Jefferson Building. Largest library in the world, more than 164 million items on 1348.6 kilometers of bookshelves.
Currently in the Library of Congress is the exhibition, "Echoes of the Great War." Original propaganda Artwork from World War 1.
President Thomas Jefferson's 1815 personal library.
Although the books are protected in a glass enclosure, some of them are available to read electronically.
Main reading room...crazy.
The domed ceiling soars 160 feet above the floor. The 16 bronze statues pay homage to men whose lives were devoted to Religion, Art, Philosophy, Law, Science History etc. The statue which stood behind us in this photo was Moses, directly in front of us was Plato and Michelangelo.
US Capitol
Our first Subway ride.
If only we had a BBQ in our Motel room :(
Ended up having to settle for an $8.00 Pizza for tea. Best Pizza ever.
Can't believe you are in the USA! Enjoy seeing places and things you have heard of, but never imagined seeing. Love and God bless you all, the Willys
ReplyDeleteWe can't believe either you made it to the USA. How excited were the kids when they found out? Enjoy this time together
